Pink Is The New Black!

I love pink. I really love pink on puppies. Pink tummies, pink paws, pink noses, pink boobies.

What could be better?

Puppies are 5 days old

Maxi's puppies are 5 days old now and growing by leaps and bounds. Even the little man I have been tube feeding and bottle feeding is gaining nicely. He still can't seem to latch onto Maxi's nipples. Not sure why. Doesn't appear to have any impediments or a cleft palate so we'll just have to wait and see. One theory is that he was one of the later pups to be conceived and therefore is younger than the others. Good news is that Maxi is very attentive to him. She she must think he's worth keeping around!

Enjoy!

Maxis Havanese Puppies at 2 days old

The first few days are always nail biters. Puppies that appear healthy suddenly take a turn. Puppies that you are worried about either fail to improve or surprise you with spurts of energy. I am happy to report today that all is well. Everyone has gained at least 2 grams from yesterday when their weights were basically in a holding pattern or dropped slightly.

Since it is difficult to get individual shots just now, I thought you'd enjoy a video. Listen carefully for their little squeaks and grunts!

More photos

Not even 12 hours old and already expert at nursing. Isn't nature amazing?

The Puppies are Coming...the Puppies Are Coming!

The puppies are here!

Maxi whelped 8 healthy, beautiful puppies between 8:30 and 12:30 last night. 5 girls and 3 boys. All appear to be nursing well. Weights range between 119 and 176 grams!

Stay tuned. Today we are going to rest!

Maxi is Almost Ready...Actually More than Ready!!!

This is Maxi's favorite sleeping position as of a week ago. We are leaving now for the vets to find
out, from the x-rays, how many puppies she's going to whelp...most likely this Saturday.

Stay Tuned!!

Catching up With Hermoine

We are back in Florida now and I had the lovely opportunity to catch up with Hermoine, who is now Meisha, and her parents Linda and Steve. I am happy to report they are one very happy family. We had a nice chat that covered everything from grooming tips to food to socializing and "obedience" training. Nothing serious, mind you!

Anyway here are some pix from our visit.

This is one of my favorite parts of breeding. Nothing better than seeing the little ones you were responsible for bringing into this world and knowing they have found the very best family!
