Sometimes Things Just Don't Work Out

I'm sorry to say that I have two very sad families who took each of the boys from Lily's litter.

Though Havanese are hypo-allergenic there are some super sensitive people who cannot even tolerate them and this is the reason Puppy #5 (now Hooch) had to come back to me. He is a very sweet little boy, has had two of his puppy shots and is anxious to settle in with his new family. He is ten weeks old.
The other boy went to an elderly couple who have decided a young puppy is just too much for them. They, too, are crushed. But I could hear the stress in their voices and recommended they let the puppy go. Slightly smaller but equally charming, the puppy's name is now Benji and his photo is below.

If you are interested in meeting either of these puppies please send me a note.

Mighty Quiet Around Here!

Well, all but one puppy have left for their forever homes. I have to say they are all very fortunate to have found such happy, healthy and loving families!

Here are some photos and a note from one of them who adopted a puppy from Lily's litter.....
...Now Pippa, she is little girl #3 with the pink collar.
Love abounds!

Hi Jacqui,

Pippa had a great visit with our vet today. She was very healthy and was a hit at the office.

Attached are a few photos of Pippa that we thought you would enjoy!

Pippa has already brought so much joy into our home, and we are excited to have her meet our neighbors and the rest of our family.

Here is another from the family who adopted one of Marli's pups.
Puppy #3 is now Tiller!

Hi Jacqui,

Tiller is fantastic!  What a doll.  He did great at the airports, seemed excited by the adventure.  Got to fly First Class on his first flight. (Spoiled already.)  Put him underneath the seat, he didn’t make a peep the whole time.  Kinda like he shrugged his little shoulders, said “Yeah, ok” curled up and went to sleep.  Natural flier!

Slept well last night, too, in his airline carrier on my bed.  Just one potty break at about 5am.

Tiller’s adapting well to his puppy playroom.  He occasionally voices his displeasure at being trapped by a baby gate, but seems to understand “quiet” and “shush.”  He settles down so quickly, I’m amazed.  He’s also a great self-soother.  He seems pretty content to play with his toys and scan for baby gate weaknesses to exploit.  (He is obviously intelligent and already responds to his name:) I swapped his litterbox and crate positions today.  A little while later, caught him dragging his placemat/water bowl across the room.  Guess he wanted in on the renovation!  When he’s quiet, I take him out every hour to snuggle/play.  He’s so snuggly, soft, sweet, and tiny!  We are bonding well.

He’s using his litterbox (yay!).  Peed once on a towel last night (easy mistake) and once on floor today (excited maybe?).  Got a little poo on floor today, but only because his stool is soft- he did use his box.  I’ll mention it to vet tomorrow, but presume it’s the food change.  Not concerned at all.

Went to a few stores today. Socialization opportunities abound with a puppy this cute. Everyone wants to meet Tiller!  He did great.

My seating is such that I can see Tiller in his puppy room and vice versa.  He was sleeping for awhile.  A few minutes ago, I looked over and he was just sitting quietly looking at me, patiently awaiting my attention.  Seriously impressed with this puppy!  So now he’s smothering me with kisses!!  Good time to sign off.

Thank you, Jacqui, for a wonderful pup!  Keep in touch.

Kimber

How Time Flies

Well Marli's pups are old enough to leave tomorrow. Lucky me, I am holding on to the red sable girl for a while to see if she develops into a nice show puppy. And, the sable Patti boy (now Tiller) will be with me until May 29 when her Mama comes to take her back to Florida!

Here are their photos:

Carneys Driving Miss Daisy Crazy (AKA Daisy) is going to stay with us a while. We're hoping she'll turn into a great show prospect! She is full of spunk and loves to tease the other puppies. Daisy weighs 2.5 pounds, a nice average size for a girl.

This is Tiller. He was my first choice for a show prospect but is going to be small...probably too small to be a champion. But he is already a champion in the heart of a young female pilot from Florida. I'll miss this little guy but hope to see him next winter! He weighs 1.12 pounds.

And this little girl is going to live right around the corner from me in Michigan. Not sure of her name yet but I'll find out tomorrow when her family picks her up. She weighs 2.3 pounds

Lily's puppies will be ready to leave May 24. Here are their photos I took this morning.

Puppy #2, Carneys Rose by Any Other Name (Rose), is also going to stay with me for a while. Then I will have the terrible task of deciding between her and Daisy. Rose weighs2.8 pounds right now.

This is Lily's puppy #5. He has been wearing a tan collar so I can tell him apart from his other white siblings. This little guy seems to have a little more energy than the others and likes to keep the games going! He weighs 2.7 pounds.

This is Lily's puppy #3. She is wearing a pink collar and also weighs 2.7 pounds. She has a very sweet disposition, not terribly dominant but not afraid to speak her mind!

This is Puppy #1. She is a little tyke, weighing just 1.12 pounds. She will probably be a small girl and has a very sweet, outgoing disposition. Loves to play and doesn't let the big boys push her around!

This is Puppy #4, our other boy. He's been wearing a purple collar. He is also a bit of an energy bunny and loves to tussle with his brother. He weighs 2.4 pounds.
And this is puppy #6 who has been wearing a red collar. She is going to live nearby in Ferndale which makes me very happy. Stephanie and John had a very difficult time picking her out yesterday, All the puppies are quite similar in temperament but she seemed to pick out John! She weighs 2.3 pounds.

Havanese Puppies with the Grown-Ups!

Havanese Puppies...2 litters

Marli's puppies (the more colorful three) were 5 weeks old last Tuesday. Lily's puppies (the cream and pale sable puppies) are 4 weeks old today!

Marli's Puppies are 4 weeks old.

I am really enjoying these little bundles now that they are moving around. They are beginning to show interest in kibble mush and are playing with each other.

Lily's Pups Are 2 Weeks Old!

It's hard to believe two weeks have gone by since Lily surprised us with delivering her puppies five days early!  They are all growing by leaps and bounds and beginning to move around quite a bit. Their eyes should open in the next few days and their ears typically open about the same time.

Here are photos I took a few minutes ago.

This is miss Pinky. Pinky because that is the color of the collar she is wearing so I can tell her apart from the other white girls. Pinky was born third in the litter and weighed 156 grams. Yesterday she weighed 15.5 ounces (or, 439 grams!)

This is Red. Born last, but not least, she is actually a pale cream color. Her birth weight was 171 grams which made her the largest pup. She is now 14 ounces
This is Sable. She was born second and I didn't put a collar on her because she's the only pup with color. She weighed 136 grams at birth and is now 13.7 ounces.

This is Tan. (I'm really going to have to do something about these names/labels!) Anyway, born fifth, he weighed 169 grams. He now weighs 14.9 ounces which makes him currently the winner in the weight category.

This is Tiny. She was born first and is the smallest of the bunch. Weighing in at a whopping 99 grams at birth she has probably gained the most, percentage wise. She is now 10.2 ounces.

This is Purple. He is a pale caramel color...gold really. He was born fourth at 150 grams and now weighs 12.5 ounces.

I have to warn you all now that my computer is going haywire. It took me almost 2 hours to write this post because it keeps deleting text and photos. I have an appointment with the Apple Store next Tuesday. It was the earliest I could get! I may not post again before them. So sorry!!

Love this!

Marli's girl, Red Sable puppy

Marli's Black and Tan girl

Marli's Sable Parti boy

Lily's pups.  Left to right, Sable Parti girl, the tiny girl and the tawny boy.

These three are so close in color I have their tails painted with a dab of nail polish.   So, we have from left to right, maroon tail girl, pink tail girl and taupe tail boy!

I love how all the puppies are getting so chubby!

Havanese Puppies Last Day Together

Sabol and Mango are about to leave. They all got their bedtime baths last night and then they got to romp!

The Local Puppy Report

All our puppies are growing by leaps and bounds.

We're not too busy yet....comparatively speaking (LOL) as mom does the yeomen's share of the work.
So I just get to sit and admire...and play with the older puppies, two of whom leave me today so I will just have little Gumbo left to home. He is a dear and a great playmate for Maggie so we are not in any hurry! We'll wait til we find the absolutely perfect home.

It's Raining Puppies!

Lily had her puppies yesterday. The first born was touch and go but I'm very proud to say I've learned enough over the years of breeding that I was able to do all the right things and bring her back to life!

Anyway, we have four girls and two boys. One girl is a sable parti. The other 5 are cream and so close in appearances that I'll have to paint one nail a different color on each of them!

Here's our first photo. Lily was exhausted...but much perkier today and all the pups are nursing well and gaining lots.

News Flash!

Marli and Nash had three beautiful puppies on Tuesday, March 24. Right on her due date!

Both she and her puppies are doing great.

We have a black and tan girl, a red sable girl and a sable parti boy.

More news to follow!

On another note, all of Maxi's puppies except for Sabol and Gumbo are spoke for.

This is Gumbo...a very sweet and pretty low key boy. He'll likely be average. Maybe 13 pounds.

And this is Sabol. Really coming into his own. He'll be on the smaller side. Maybe 11 pounds.
