Rehoming Willow

Willow is the little girl out of my Marli and my friend's boy Ruger. She was born February 27, 2014. I had kept her as a show prospect but it doesn't appear she is going to get as big as I had hoped. Marli stands 8 1/2" at the withers and Willow is about 9". They both weigh about 8 pounds. Willow will get a little larger but I am looking for a girl about 10 pounds and I don't think she'll get that big.

She is a darling girl. Has lots of spunk but also loves to cuddle. She plays very well with my other dogs, especially my 10 month old, Potter. And, when we had Maxi's puppies here Willow was their "adult" playmate.

Willow has a very soft, silky coat. She is all black except for a white "goatee", a white patch on her chest and four white "slippers" on her feet. You can see lots of photos of Willow on this blog. But here are a couple of my favorites.

Being a breeder is a wonderful thing. But having to make tough decisions like this one is.....tough!
We have to have a discerning eye and an open mind and sometimes your heart gets in the way of all this. I could wait longer to see if Willow does get bigger but it wouldn't be fair to her. She needs to begin bonding with her forever home!

If you'd like to meet Willow, her mom and me, drop me an e-mail and we'll set something up.

Some Updates

One of the best things about being a breeder is hearing back from your families with photos and updates on the fur-kids.  I thought I'd share a few with you all.

Lily (no relation to my girl Lily) is one of my pups from Maxi's New Years Eve litter. She lives in Vermont in the summer and Naples in the winter. What a lucky girl!! Here are some recent photos and a note her family sent.

"Lily is doing wonderfully. She is a big girl now probably 13 and a half pounds. Not at all fat, just big. She loves everyone and likes to play with other small dogs, there is another havanese puppy in the area and we are going to get them together. I give her a bath weekly and have started to scissor cut her rather than going to a groomer since they all just poodle cut them which I don't want. Hope all of your other puppies are doing well.  Thank you for such a wonderful dog." Susan

"Hi Jacqui,

Wanted to let you know that Charlie was neutered yesterday.  He's doing just fine but will need to dial back the rough and tumbled activities he and the cat engage in all day long.  This will be hard for all of us.

Here are a few pictures of Charlie in his summer cut...too hot here for long hair in this Georgia heat.  He is an absolutely wonderful little guy and we adore him.

Love following your posts about the new pups."

"Hi Jacqui,

I’m glad the puppies are here and healthy.  Mi’ja, formerly Dillon, is doing just fine.  We were just at the vet this morning for her rabies shot, and she is 4.5 lbs, so she will likely end up quite small.  Our vet wants to let her go thru one heat before she is spayed, so that may not happen for awhile.  We’ve been through 6 weeks of puppy obedience, and while she understands everything, she is still very easily distracted.  She doesn’t want to let anyone go by without dancing and waving and wagging and virtually shouting “Pet me! Pet me!”  Here’s our latest picture.  I love her ears - they are so expressive."

Take care,
Ann

Moving On

Maxi's puppies are moving on to their new families. I am so delighted with all the loving and nurturing homes that these kids are going to. And, all over the country! Florida, New York, California, Virginia and Michigan.

Seamus is the only one left and, in the meantime, he is getting very spoiled by his older playmates.

Harry's new digs. I think he's quite comfortable! By the way, his forever name is Handsome Harry!

A parting shot of my little Hermione...but we plan to have regular reunions in Florida!
Hermione's new family. What a spoiled girl she will be. Her new name is Meisha (gift from god) Lucia (born at daylight...a family nickname I'm told!)

Lily loves Emily. Seamus just hanging! By the way, his family is keeping his name.

Maxi and Dinos Puppies at Seven Weeks

We are very busy with vet visits, playing, finishing paperwork, playing, pedicures, playing, eating, playing, sleeping, playing...you get the picture. And then, to top it all off, we have had tons of rain so playtime was indoors again today. We got to play in the basement which has a huge area where puppies can run and tussle and challenge Potter and Willow. And, no, we are not eating the freshly poured litter...we are playing with toys in the litter box because we love the fragrance of fresh pine.
